Lewis Armistead and Arthur Fremantle in the Movie Gettysburg

One of my favorite scenes in the movie Gettysburg (1992) is when actor Richard Jordan (who unfortunately passed shortly after the release of the movie), playing Lewis Armistead and James Lancaster, playing the British Lt. Colonel Arthur Fremantle, are speaking before Pickett’s Charge and infamy.  This is, in my humble opinion, one of the greatest depictions of value placed on ancestry in the period (seriously) and the emphasis on honor that is actually pretty historical–and it isn’t boring!   Watch for yourself:
