Three Awesome Events in the Next 2 Weeks!

So it has been a while since I’ve done an event preview but this weekend and next weekend are shaping up to be a pretty awesome time for traveling.  The weather looks like it will cooperate as well!

SummerHouse

Summer House at the Colonial Plantation in Media, PA.

1. Revolutionary War Weekend at Mount Harmon, MD; Sept. 14-15 ($5 for adults, 12 and under FREE)!

This one looks like a winner for Revolutionary War buffs out there.

Mount Harmon is hosting a full scale Revolutionary War Re-enactment & Colonial Festival, complete with British & Rebel Encampments, military skirmishes, tactical demonstrations, colonial marketplace, manor house tours, food vendors & much more!

Check out the flyer and the Press Release!

2. Forks Township Community Days, Easton, PA; Sept. 21-22

Since I’m from Forks Township, this one is a little special.  Besides it being a fun day of activities (check here), there will also be a brilliant fireworks display, car show, beer tent (of course), and hay rides.  Additionally, the Frace/Fraes log cabin will be open for tours.  That is exciting.  It is the oldest structure in Forks.  Also, Melissa Rabinsky will be doing Abigail Adams impressions there.

It is worth checking out!

3. Ridley Creek Civil War Battle and Encampment, Media, PA; Sept. 21-22 (Adults $12 and children 4 and older $8)

I may have to hit up both weekend events.  This reenactment looks pretty cool.  Set at a Colonial Plantation as the backdrop, there is a large group of reenactors expected.  This should prove interesting and worthwhile!  From the website (which lists event details):

The South is invading Pennsylvania again. The Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation will be hosting a Federal and Confederate battle and camp on Saturday, September 21st and Sunday, September 22nd. Witness firearm demonstrations, drills, a burial squad, use of herbs in the 1860s and camp life. There will be a period fashions and displays of civilian life. Battles will take place on Saturday at 12 and 4. Sunday’s battle will be at 2. Watch the North try to defend the farm against the invading forces from old Dixie.
